Be more adaptable and survive

The term dinosaur is often applied to a person or organisation that has not kept up with changing conditions and has been passed by.

For sure, we are experiencing a world where the change of pace seems to increase all the time. More technology, more competition.

It's hard to keep up.

But there is a solution.

The problems faced by business owners in adapting to changes are common and it is why we created a module on adaptation in our Business Ownership Course.

Here's a few tips for you.

1. Don't stick your head in the sand and hope

The only way to survive in a changing environment is to keep an eye on the horizon. Old time sailors used to call this a weather eye. Watching your market and keeping up to date on trends will help you buy some time to plan for and adapt to these changes.

2. Be willing to trial and pilot new ideas

No business stays the same, so you have to be willing to trial new ideas. New products, services, new technology, new ways of doing business.

By piloting new ideas you are 'disrupting' yourself rather than waiting for the market to disrupt you.

3. Have a rollout method

Make sure you have a proven method of rolling out ideas and new things that work. Don't just chuck them into your existing business and hope for the best. Work out the rights steps, keep everyone in the loop, fix bottlenecks.

The better organised you are at rolling out new products and services smoothly the better you will survive over time.

Hope these tips are useful. Follow them and win and if you'd like to know more about our ADAPT to SURVIVE training module for business owners - give us a call.

Enjoy the journey.
